Position Summary: This position is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing occupational therapy services for in-patients referred for Occupational Therapy by a physician. Care is performed according to the Occupational Therapy Practice Act, organization and department policies and procedures. This is a professional-level position operating independently, under limited supervision. Work situations are varied and require initiative, analysis, interpretation of information from a variety of sources, a service-oriented individual, and the use of discretion and good judgment in decision-making. Internal contacts are primarily with coworkers in therapy departments, nursing, and Case Managers. External contacts include patients, families, and physicians outside health care facilities, and other community agencies working with the patient and patients family.
Minimum Requirements: Successful completion of state board Occupational Therapist examination One year previous experience in occupational therapy preferredAble to clearly communicate verbally and in writing to patients, patient's families, staff and physicians. Ability to read basic documentation forms for charting purposes and read medical record. Ability to work well with others. Ability to support patients weighing 150+ lbs. Ability to stand for 1-2 hours at a time and move about the facility freely. Ability to stoop and kneel for short periods throughout the day. Ability to identify occupational hazards and use safety precautions. Ability to use therapeutic modalities. Competent in evaluation and treatment skills of primary patient diagnostic groups of service area in which working (ie. Orthopedics, neurological rehabilitation, work rehabilitation).Education/Licenses/Certifications: Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Washington New Graduates - Permitted to practice with Interim Permit in the State of Washington - Limited Permit is valid until results of the new examination are made public. - One extension of the permit is granted if the Occupational Therapist has failed examination
