Work Hours/Shift: Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
You Will Be Responsible For:
Determines Occupational Therapy Diagnosis and establishes plan of care, make recommendations for referral if treatment needed outside of scope of Physical Therapist practice.
Engages in promoting evidence-based standards of care and lifelong learning through autonomous and collaborative participation in research, journal club/reviews, teaching/mentoring/CI and/or clinical practice education within a peer group.
Performs evaluations and re-evaluations according to standards and recommended techniques. Establishes, implements, and adapts an individualized treatment plan of care (including appropriate goal setting, treatment activities and frequency). Discharges patients when maximum benefit has been achieved and/or according to standards of practice and payer guidelines.
Documents and charges accurately, completely, and timely using measurable and objective terminology, following standards of practice, insurance guidelines and department/hospital policies and procedures.
Identifies the need for patient/caregiver education and utilizes each opportunity for teaching on a planned or spontaneous basis. Documents education and understanding as appropriate.
Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
Does discharge planning and provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of equipment and follow up services.
Oversees the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians, according to established regulations and practice standards.
Attends department meetings and education as required.
Meets productivity standard as defined by department.
Actively supports scheduling so that each patient meets the plan of care as agreed upon by the patient and referring physician by adjusting and adapting their own schedule and/or working within the team in order to meet the patients’ needs. Willingly adjusts and adapts to changes in patient census by altering working hours to assist in other centers/programs as needed/approved and observed by manager.
Practices principles of employee and patient safety when performing daily job activities via observation
Regularly participates in marketing to physicians/physician practices to build referral relationships with a minimum of two contacts per month. Supports consumer marketing and public awareness through participation in community events, educational lectures/speaking and/or other extension of clinical expertise to the community as approved by manager or director.

What You Will Need:
At least entry-level professional competency of Occupational Therapy practice, theory, principles and applications as defined in competencies departmental policy
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy plus five or more years of work experience in Occupational Therapy OR Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
Active State of Florida Occupational Therapist License
Previous experience or clinical rotations in an adult medical setting working with Neurological patients preferred.
Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Provides direct and indirect services to specific age groups in the outpatient rehabilitation settings. Utilizes process improvement in achieving the goals of the Sports Med & Rehab Department. Accepts the responsibility to practice autonomously and collaboratively in all practice environments to provide best practice to the patient/client. Autonomous practice is characterized by independent, self-determined, professional judgment and action. Adheres to the AdventHealths Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies, and accrediting bodies. May supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, volunteers, technical aides and interns. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all
