The Corporate Coder, Outpatient is responsible for accurate coding and abstracting of clinical information from the medical record. The position is responsible for maintaining Tenet standards for coding data quality and integrity, as well as productivity within established guidelines. The Corporate Coder, Outpatient is responsible for coding of Tenet facilities as assigned, assisting with productive coding to maintain DNFC, and assisting with the training of new CCâ��s and/or other projects.
Code and abstract clinical information from medical records while meeting Tenet established productivity and quality benchmarks.
Manages cases that are pending documentation and/or charge corrections through clear communication to coding management and clinical/business operations staff.
Assist with training of new coding staff and other projects.
Attends Tenet coding educations and maintains coding credentials.
1-3 years outpatient coding experience.
Skilled and working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Strong technical background and electronic medical record experience.
Successful completion of at least one AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) or AAPC (Association of Professional Coders) certified program and corresponding credential achievement.
Coding certification; i.e. CCS or COC
3+ years outpatient coding experience.
Associates or higher-level degree in a Health Information Management discipline.
RHIT/RHIA plus CCS or COC
