Reimbursement of Relocation Expenses: Authorized Recruitment / Relocation Incentive: Authorized As the Chief of Staff of the Wilmington VA Medical Center, you will serve in an executive leadership role. As the facility's senior medical executive, you will be responsible to the Medical Center Director for all clinical patient care programs and services, as well as for related provider recruitment, retention, performance, and educational activities of the clinical services. To carry out these responsibilities you will: Develop and support plans for a comprehensive, integrated program of medical care Formulate the staffing, facilities, equipment and related requirements needed to carry forward such an integrated program, utilizing necessary oversight processes, reviews and controls Appraise the ongoing effectiveness of the various medical programs in meeting the needs of patient care Work with the Medical Center Director and other members of the senior leadership team to ensure Wilmington's veterans receive the highest quality care possible. You will act as chair of the Medical Executive Board and ex officio member of the Academic Affairs Council. As the Chief of Staff, you will supervise the Clinical Service Chiefs and will work with them to develop and maintain currently accepted management practices throughout the clinical services, including development and presentation of the budgetary requirements for the clinical services to senior facility leadership. The Wilmington VA Medical Center (VAMC) is a Level 2 complexity health care facility within one hour of Philadelphia, PA or Baltimore, MD. The facility serves over 30,000 Veterans that reside throughout the state of Delaware, southern New Jersey, eastern Maryland, and southeastern Pennsylvania. Those Veterans generate approximately 300,000 outpatient visits per year. The facility has a Hospitalist-staffed Inpatient Acute Care Service (including ICU) and five associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics. Wilmington VA Medical Center has multiple established academic affiliations (Thomas Jefferson University, Temple University, Salus University, University of Delaware, and Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine). The medical center also maintains academic affiliations in a wide variety of allied health disciplines, including nursing, physical therapy, and physician assistants. The Wilmington VA Medical Center is a comprehensive health care system providing ambulatory and inpatient services. Core services include primary care, behavioral health, rehabilitation, and comprehensive care for women veterans. A wide variety of surgical and internal medicine-based specialty services are available. The acute inpatient service is supported by a 24/7 emergency department and includes a 16-bed medical-surgical unit (with telemetry) and a 6-bed ICU (which participates in VA's Tele-ICU program). Wilmington has a very robust telemedicine program supporting many clinical disciplines and serving the main facility as well as all Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC's). Wilmington is additionally supported by a comprehensive Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service as well as a broad array of Radiology and Imaging Services. The facility supports a 40-bed on-site Community Living Center (long term care facility); additionally, a full range of home care and community services are provided including: Home Based Primary Care, Homemaker Home Health Care, Community Residential Care, Adult Day Health Care, Mental Health Intensive Case Management and homeless veteran care. Wilmington VA Medical Center shares a variety of routine and acute care clinical services with VISN 4 sister facilities including The Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center (Philadelphia) and the Coatesville (PA) VA Medical Center as well as with local and regional non-VA clinical partners.
